Solo RPG

pfOracle intends to provide a simple solo roleplaying experience for Old School Revival (OSR) style games. That of course includes BECMI D&D. pfOracle for OSR should work with simple modifications for any OSR style rules system.

pfOracle assumes a campaign setting of the “Elven Footpath” from the Backrooms dot Net universe developed by T. Gene Davis. The setting of Elven Footpath is variable and mostly non-Euclidean, so mapping on common graph paper will prove challenging. In practical terms a 50 mile journey in a straight line in the world of Elven Footpath might have a one mile shortcut that gets you to the same destination in no time. However, the world’s geometry changes constantly, so that same shortcut might take you somewhere else, tomorrow.

How to Use pfOracle for OSR

I’ll complete this section when I release the first version.

Elven Footpath

The world of the Elven Footpath is a non-Euclidean high fantasy level of the Backrooms dot Net universe. Non-Euclidean means that the geometry makes no sense to us as dwellers in a Euclidean world. Mapping out dungeons and countries on a piece of graph paper in a non-Euclidean world results in nonsense that we would think is impossible.

The Elven Footpath is a massive level of the Backrooms, and assumed to be infinite. No scientist has checked if the world of the Elven Footpath is a sphere, flat or some other shape.

In the level, there is a myth of a Euclidean path created by ancient beings nicknamed “elves” that came to this world from a Euclidean space. They hated the non-Euclidean nature of this Backrooms level, so they created what they called the “Footpath” that had Euclidean geometry to connect all important parts of their kingdoms. Perhaps, this “Footpath” is a merely a myth spread by Frontrooms settlers of this level to give them hope for sanity in getting from place to place.
